I just learned of Miss McGonegle's passing this evening. A picture of Longfellow School was posted on facebook today. I commented that Miss McGonegle was my all-time very favorite teacher. I have often thought of her and wondered where she was so I could tell her how much she meant to me. Reading was difficult for me in first grade and I was at the very bottom of the class. She taught me to read and I wish I could have let her know that I grew up to become a reading teacher myself because of her. She cared so much for each of her students. She had a hug for each of us at the end of every day.
