Every time I get a call first from the interpreter service I knew it would be Alva. He would come to my koi farm every year to buy koi fish for his pond. We would talk for a long time, and scribble notes on a pad to discuss the fish. I have Cherokee Indian in me, and loved to talk with him. He would tell me of all the pond plants that could be eaten. I will miss his yearly visits!
