I got the pleasure to meet Alva through my God-parents Bob and Julie Zuidema. I got to see his bead work and talk with him. He was such a gentle man. He would let me practice signing with him and I shared a love for Native Culture. He has left an imprint on my heart of kindness, graciousness, and strength of spirit. He will missed as the world has lost a friend to many. Hail and Farewell.
