Condolence: Every time I get a call first from the interpreter service I knew it would be Alva. He would come to my koi farm every year to buy koi fish for his pond. We would talk for a long time, and scribble notes on a pad to discuss the fish. I have Cherokee Indian in me, and loved to talk with him. He would tell me of all the pond plants that could be eaten. I will miss his yearly visits!

Condolence: I got the pleasure to meet Alva through my God-parents Bob and Julie Zuidema. I got to see his bead work and talk with him. He was such a gentle man. He would let me practice signing with him and I shared a love for Native Culture. He has left an imprint on my heart of kindness, graciousness, and strength of spirit. He will missed as the world has lost a friend to many. Hail and Farewell.

When I got married he did the same thing & would clasp his hands together as we were one. I will remember him and his gentle kind heart forever

Condolence: We loved Alva and made him part of our family. Several times a week he came by to visit me at my coffee shop and enjoyed his hazelnut coffee. Alva taught us a lot about KOi fish and his Native American heritage. We will miss you so much.
