Obituary

Ronnie R. Pettis, 75, of Clinton Iowa passed away at MercyOne Medical Center – Dubuque on Wednesday, September 16, 2020. Honoring his wishes, cremation rights have been accorded with a private family graveside service taking place at 1pm on Thursday, September 24 at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.

Ronnie was born May 16, 1945 in Rock Island, Illinois, the son of Marjorie Pettis. He was blessed to marry his lifelong partner Deloris James on September 13, 1967 in Clinton Iowa.

Ronnie was a Machinist at Purina in Clinton for many years and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in East Moline.

Ronnie was a U.S. Veteran serving in the United States Army.

Ronnie was a sports fanatic but especially loved golf and bowling and he very much enjoyed throwing horse shoes. Above all he loved his family, one of his greatest joys was being a Grandpa, and he will be greatly missed.

Ronnie is survived by his wife - Deloris James, his daughter - Terri Pettis of Clinton, special nephew - Robby and Robby’s children - Charlotte and Ronde, one brother – Jerry Pettis of Michigan and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Ronnie in death were his parents and his special Aunt Mable.

I met Ronnie through golfing with the Red Dress League. He was such a friendly guy you felt he was a friend you've know your whole life. A real nice guy, he will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family. Bob Lutz

So sorry for your loss. I considered Ronnie a good friend. I worked side by side with him for many years. Spent time going to some Hawkeye games and a couple Bears games with him. Always a good time. Over the years while in retirement if he saw my truck anywhere he made the point of stopping to say hi. The world has lost a good man and I will truly miss him. RIP Ron.

Jerry and the Pettis family, I am so sorry for the
Lost of Ronnie. I will always remember the fun memories we share in our youth in East Moline.

I met Ron through bowling. He was always such a sweet, nice man. He will be missed. Ron's family is in my thoughts and prayers.

Ronnie and I met on the golf course, he was crazy about golfing and finally had his Hole In One just this summer while golfing with all his friends in the Red Dress League. Ronnie's family are in our thoughts and prayers everyday. Ronnie you will be missed more than you know little buddy. RIP my friend. Brad
