Obituary for Ronnie Pettis

Ronnie R. Pettis, 75, of Clinton Iowa passed away at MercyOne Medical Center – Dubuque on Wednesday, September 16, 2020. Honoring his wishes, cremation rights have been accorded with a private family graveside service taking place at 1pm on Thursday, September 24 at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.

Ronnie was born May 16, 1945 in Rock Island, Illinois, the son of Marjorie Pettis. He was blessed to marry his lifelong partner Deloris James on September 13, 1967 in Clinton Iowa.

Ronnie was a Machinist at Purina in Clinton for many years and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in East Moline.

Ronnie was a U.S. Veteran serving in the United States Army.

Ronnie was a sports fanatic but especially loved golf and bowling and he very much enjoyed throwing horse shoes. Above all he loved his family, one of his greatest joys was being a Grandpa, and he will be greatly missed.

Ronnie is survived by his wife - Deloris James, his daughter - Terri Pettis of Clinton, special nephew - Robby and Robby’s children - Charlotte and Ronde, one brother – Jerry Pettis of Michigan and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Ronnie in death were his parents and his special Aunt Mable.
