Obituary for Marilyn E. Holle

Marilyn E. Holle, 84, of Clinton, Iowa passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at the Alverno. A funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 17, at Lemke Funeral Homes - North Chapel (2304 N. 2nd St.). A visitation will occur from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 16 at Lemke Funeral Homes – North Chapel. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Marilyn was born June 2, 1932 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Bernard and Edith (Bienlein) Opheim. She was a 1950 graduate of Clinton High School and later acquired a teaching degree at Mount Saint Clare College. Marilyn was united in marriage to James C. Holle on August 24, 1957 in Clinton.
She was a lifelong member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Marilyn began her career as an operator for Bell Telephone. She also taught first grade for several years and was a Librarian at both Clinton locations for 23 years. Marilyn was also a member of the Friends of the Library, which included delivering books and socializing with the home-bound. She also volunteered for the study connection program at school as well as volunteering at the pre-school at the YWCA.
Marilyn enjoyed golfing and was very proud to have shot a hole-in-one during one of her outings. She also enjoyed attending the annual Bix Jazz festival. Later in life she enjoyed brightening the daily lives of her neighbors at the Alverno singing. Above all she loved her family very much and enjoyed attending all of her children's and grandchildren's activities.
Marilyn is survived by her children - Mike (Julie) Holle of Rocheport, MO – Kevin (Kathy) Holle of Bettendorf, IA - Cathy (Eric) Fullick of Clinton, IA and Merry (Bob) Tinti of Torrance, CA; grandchildren – Elizabeth Powell; Tyler, Shelby and Miranda Holle; Tomi and Dan Fullick; and Robby and Jason Tinti; one sister – Nancy (Dick) Roberts of Clinton, IA; two sisters-in-law – Donna Opheim of Thomson, IL and Barb Opheim of Clinton, IA; with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceding Marilyn in death were her parents, her husband James and two brothers – Bill and Bud Opheim.
