David Raymond Petersen, 81, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at home on Sunday, August 5, 2018. A funeral service will take place at 1 pm on Thursday, August 9, at Lemke Funeral Homes – South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive). A visitation will occur 2 hours prior to the funeral service from 11 am until the time of service at the Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Sammy Schuster, Lane Boisen, Paige Boisen, Christa Jackson, Debbie Salazar and Candel Salazar. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services with burial at a later date at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.

David was born September 3, 1936 in Clinton, Iowa the son of Raymond and Helen (DeVine) Petersen. He was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School. He served his County in the United States Marine Corps from 1958 to 1962. David was united in marriage to Elizabeth “Betty” Boyer on September 4, 1962 in Morrison, Illinois.

David worked at Clinton Corn / ADM, as an operator, retiring in 1998 after 37 years.

Early in life he enjoyed bowling and taking family vacations. He loved socializing with his family and going to the Casino with his wife. He loved his two fur-babies, his cats, and he enjoyed feeding the birds and small animals around his home. Above all, he loved his family very much especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

David is survived by his 3 daughters -Theresa (Mark) Boisen of Clinton, IA, Annette Schuster of LeClaire, IA, Debra Petersen of Clinton, IA; 1 son – James (Patty) Petersen of Clinton, IA; 11 grandchildren – Lane, Paige, Melissa, Christa, Shaun, Alan, Sam, Candel, Phili, Debby and CJ; 2 great-grandchildren – Atom and Aiden; 2 sisters – Marian (Dale) Crook of Clarksville, KY and Lorraine (Merle) Gallentine of Clinton, IA; 1 brother – Joseph Petersen of Clear Water, FL; with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife - Betty, 1 sister and 1 brother.
