Alice Mae E. Hofer, 91, of Clinton, Iowa passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, December 3, 2015. A private family service will take place on Monday, December 7, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
Alice Mae was born January 29, 1924 in DeWitt, Iowa the daughter of Arnold and Ella (Peahl) Nielsen. She was a graduate of DeWitt High School. Alice Mae was united in marriage to Otis Hofer on December 7, 1940 in Davenport, Iowa - Otis passed away on April 1, 2013.
Alice Mae was a faithful farm wife who, with her husband, farmed in the Clinton County area for over 20 years. She was a fantastic baker, her specialty was wedding cakes. Alice Mae also had a great talent for creating items out of ceramics. Above all she loved her family very much, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Alice Mae loved dogs, so the family request that in lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the Clinton Humane Society in their mothers name.
Alice Mae is survived by one daughter - Shirley Busch of Davenport, IA.; two sons- Terry Hofer of Low Moor, IA. and Ron (Alice) Hofer of Camanche, IA.; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Otis.
