Obituary for Wayne Mangler

Wayne A. Mangler, 82, died peacefully at home on February 18 following a brief illness with his family by his side. Visitation and memorial services will be held on Wednesday, February 22 at Lemke Funeral Home, 2610 Manufacturing Drive, Clinton. Visitation will be held from 3:00 – 6:00 PM. A memorial service will follow.
Wayne was born on April 2, 1929 in Sabula, Iowa, to Albert and Ellen Mangler. He was educated in the Sabula schools, graduating in 1947.
As a young man, Wayne began working for the Milwaukee Railroad as a Brakeman and Conductor. He continued that job for another 40 years. In his 30s, he began his career as an insurance agent with American Family Insurance. He excelled in that profession until his retirement. In the 1980s, he was recognized as one of the most successful agents with American Family Insurance, receiving one of the first distinguished Iron Man awards, along with many other company honors.
Wayne was with Linda Gideon for 12 years. They married in 2005. Prior to that, he was married to Gloria Barrows.
Wayne enjoyed golfing, refurbishing rental homes and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of the Clinton Landlord Association and the Retired Railroad Association.
He is survived by his wife Linda of Clinton; two daughters - Karen (Wayne) Sorensen of Goose Lake, Iowa, Julie (John) Harrington of Camanche; one son - Mark (LaRee) Mangler of Clinton; six grandchildren - Eric Vogel, Nicole Spensley, Holly Harrington, Adam Harrington, Drew Mangler, and Jessica (Mangler) Arends; 4 great grandchildren - Chloe Vogel, Brennan Vogel, Clara Harrington, and Octavain Harrington; 2 step-sons Jason (Jennifer) Gideon and Jamie (Jes) Gideon; 5 step-grandchildren - Alec Gideon, Korben Gideon, Alyssa Gideon, Austin Gideon, Breanna Gideon; 2 sisters- Isabel Brundage of Sabula, and Mary Sandholt of Oskalossa; and 2 brothers- Lloyd Mangler of Sabula and Albert Mangler of Sabula.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, 2 sisters and 1 granddaughter.
