Obituary for Walter "Pete" Ebersole

Walter "Pete" William Ebersole, 95, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at Mercy Living Center - North on Wednesday, April 12, 2017. Pete was born May 1, 1921 in rural Bayard, Iowa the son of Elwood and Elizabeth (Thuelen) Ebersole. Pete lived over 90 years in Bayard with the last few years in Clinton, Iowa near relatives.
He was a graduate of BHS in 1939; married Jean Adamson in September 1942. Pete was a WWII Veteran where he served in an Army Railroad battalion in France. He served there from December 16, 1942 until December 21,1945. He worked for the Milwaukee Railroad as a section foreman for nearly 40 years, retiring in 1982. Pete was a member of the Bayard Legion since WWII, also as a member of the Bayard Methodist church. Some of the things he will be remembered most for were his love of Bayard, his woodworking, and caning skills, buying new cars and doing whatever his family told him to do.

Pete was proceeded in death by his parents and his wife Jean, also a brother Bill and a sister Orletha Carmichael. Survivors are his son Terry and his wife Jan of Guemes Island, Washington, his daughter Sherry and husband Tom Thomas of Clinton, Iowa; daughter Kris and husband Wes Westlake of Pleasant Hill, Iowa. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, other friends and family.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date
