Obituary for Virginia Elizabeth "Jeanne" Mumm (Rickerl)

Virginia “Jeanne” Elizabeth Mumm, 95, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at Bickford Cottage, surrounded by family, on Friday, August 28, 2020. Funeral services will take place at 1 pm on Wednesday, September 2, at Lemke Funeral Homes – South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Dr.). A visitation occurs 2-hours prior from 11 am until the service hour at the funeral home. Burial immediately follows Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.

Virginia was born August 5, 1925 in Brown’s Station, Iowa the daughter of John and Cecelia (Sterk) Rickerl. She was a 1943 graduate of St. Mary’s High School. Virginia was united in marriage to Marvin Mumm on June 19, 1948 in Sugar Creek, Iowa – Marvin passed away in 1997.

Virginia was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Clinton.

She was a homemaker who loved taking care of her family and she never forgot anyone in the family’s birthday. She loved the outdoors, especially camping and tending to her garden. Above all, Virginia was instrumental in maintaining the fabric of the entire family (immediate or extended) and that love of family meant absolutely everything to her.

Virginia is survived by her children – Michael Mumm of Preston, Steven (Cathy) Mumm of Clinton, Teresa (Gene Lambert) Singlemann of Clinton and Brian (Susann) Mumm of Cedar Rapids; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband – Marvin, one grandson, four sister and seven brothers.
