Violet Jane Hansen, 93, of Clinton passed away peacefully at the Mercy Living Center- North Campus on Saturday, December 24th, 2011. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, December 27th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Jesus Christ Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Clinton, Iowa. Visitation will occur 1 hour prior to the funeral mass from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Burial will take place at St. Irenaeus Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family.
Violet was born on January 7th, 1918 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Florence (Stoltenberg) Matson. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1935. She married Arnold Hansen on July 25th, 1936 at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
For 9 years Violet worked as a proof reader for the Clinton Herald and worked at the YWCA in the day care area. She was a member of Jesus Christ Prince of Peace Church and past member of the Altar Rosary Society. Violet enjoyed playing cards, bingo, crocheting and loved children.
Violet is survived by one son - Thomas (Pam) Hansen of Le Claire, Iowa; three grandsons - Thomas Hansen Jr. of Davenport, Iowa, Brian (Kris) Hansen of North Praire, Wisconsin, Scott (Debbie) Moore of Athens, Tennessee; five great grand children - Rheanne, Josh, Ashley, Zach and James.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, one brother.
Memorials can be made to the Jesus Christ Prince of Peace Church.
