Viola F. Scott, 92, of Clinton, Iowa passed away on December 28, 2013 at Eagle Point Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 2, at Lyons Methodist Church, Clinton. A visitation will be held two hours prior to the funeral service from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Church. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Viola was born August 7, 1921 in Clam Falls, Wisconsin the daughter of Stanley and Mille (West) Goodell. She was a 1941 graduate of Fredrick High School in Fredrick, Wisconsin. She was a united in marriage to Earl E. Scott on January 3, 1948 in Clinton, Iowa.
Viola was a cook and waitress at various schools and restaurants in the Lyons District. She also worked at the Clinton Park and Recreation Center and the Erickson Center.
Viola joined the Lyons Methodist Church on May 8, 1955. She was also a member of the Church's Women's Society and the Martha Circle. She also sang in the Church choir and participated in many adult Sunday school services.
Viola loved working with ceramics. She also enjoyed sewing, fishing and loved to travel. Viola also enjoyed having a game of cards with her many friends.
Viola is survived by two daughters - Nancy (Roger) Rathburn of Fulton, IL., Darlene (Douglas) Hilgendorf of Kewanee, Il., four grandchildren - Jean Ann Johnson of Hendersonville N.C., Ken (Shellie) Hilgendorf of Kewanee, IL., Lynn (Steve) Hilgendorf of Galesburg, IL., Frank (Melissa) Hilgendorf of Springfield, IL., three great grandchildren - Andrew and Alexander Rathburn at home, Aaron Johnson at home; two surviving sisters - Evelyn Dash of Clinton, IA., Gladys Dash of Freeport, IL., and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Earl, two brothers, one sister.
