Obituary for Vicky L. Wiersema - Mattke

Vicky L. Wiersema-Mattke, 50, of Fulton, Illinois passed away at home, surrounded by her family, following a 3 year battle with cancer on Sunday, January 24, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 28, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive, Clinton, Iowa). A visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 27, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel. Burial will take place at the Andover Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Vicky was born May 8, 1965 in Prophetstown, Illinois the daughter of Stan and Virginia (Plautz) Meier. Vicky was a graduate of Prophetstown High School. She married Terry Wiersema in 1989 - they later divorced. In 1995 she met her best friend and the love of her life Steve Mattke. Vicky and Steve celebrated their 20th anniversary on September 11, 2015.
Vicky retired from Collis Inc. after 17 years of service.
Vicky's passions were gardening and enjoying her winter home in Florida. She enjoyed going to the beach to watch the dolphins swim and enjoyed watching the sunset, as well as, visiting the local flea markets. Vicky's greatest passion was spending as much time as she could with her grandchildren.
Vicky is survived by her mother - Virginia Meier; her brother Steve Meier; her longtime companion Steve Mattke; two children - Brittany Wiersema and Ryan Wiersema; four grandchildren - Mason and McKenzie Shipley and Ava and Gabby Mattke.
She is preceded in death by her father - Stan Meier.
