Thomas "Tom" E. Lee Sr., 81, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at the V.A. Hospital in Iowa City on Tuesday, June 27, 2017. A funeral service will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 1, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel. A visitation will occur one hour prior from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Funeral Home. Honoring his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded following the funeral service with burial at a later date. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
Tom was born January 8, 1936 in Low Moor, Iowa the son of Cecil and Clarabelle (Tompkins) Lee. Following school, Tom started driving a truck and then enlisted in the United State Army, stationed in Alaska and serving during a peacetime era, were he drove heavy equipment. Upon his return from the Army, Tom would continue his passion for driving trucks - retiring after a 50+ years.
Tom was baptized Methodist.
He enjoyed the outdoors, including fishing and working in the yard and cutting wood. He loved having coffee and socializing, each and every day, with his many friends at Hy-Vee. Tom was very proud to teach his children and grandchildren how to drive a car. Although supporting his family meant a lot of time on the road, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren, very much and loved spending time with them. He will be sadly missed.
Tom is survived by his daughter – Kimberly Daulphin of Port Byron, Il; two sons – Shandi Wessels of Clinton, IA and Kent (Renea) Lee of Clinton, IA; three grandchildren – Konnor and Amber Lee and Dustin Templeton; two great-grandchildren – Kane and Alec; one brother – Merritt (Sandy) Dann of Clinton, IA, with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceding Tom in death were his parents, one sister – Lavonne and two brothers – Richard and Jim.
