Obituary for Sue Ann Rickertsen (Siem)

Sue Ann Rickertsen, 70, of Camanche, Iowa passed away at the University of Iowa Hospitals on Tuesday, November 27, 2018. A Funeral Mass will occur at 1 pm on Monday, December 3, 2018 at the Church of the Visitation. A visitation will occur 3 hours prior from 10 am until time of the Funeral Mass at the Church on Monday. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.

Sue was born April 13, 1948 in Clinton, Iowa the daughter of Ernest and Della (Cole) Siem. She was a graduate of North Scott High School. Sue was united in marriage to Phil Rickertsen on August 16, 1969 at the Church of the Visitation, the first marriage to take place at the new Catholic Church in Camanche and where she was an original member.

In her early years Sue worked at several manufacturing facilities in the area. While working in the cafeteria at Dupont’s she met the love of her life and her future husband, Phil. Following their marriage Sue became a stay at-home mother. When her children grew older, she clean homes.

Sue enjoyed shopping, visiting craft stores, participating in league bowling, boating and loved games of chance, especially Canasta. She loved her fur-babies - her Westie Terriers. She also loved planting flowers and tending to her flower garden. She always enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends. Above all, she loved her family very much, especially her grandchildren.

Sue is survived by her husband Phil Rickertsen of Camanche, IA; 2 daughters – Zoe (Ryan) Norris of Chesapeake, VA and Tara (Steve) Bockelmann of Camanche, IA; son – Mark (Sam) Rickertsen of Hutchinson, MN; 8 grandchildren; 2 sisters Linda (Jim) Fawcett of rural Camanche, IA and Patty (Leroy II) Mensinger of Camanche, IA; with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Preceding Sue in death were her parents and sister - Karen Ellis.
