Obituary for Stewart Barr

Stewart Bradley Barr, 30, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at his home on November 28th, 2013. Cremation rites have been accorded with a funeral Mass taking place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 3rd, at Jesus Christ Prince of Peace Church in Clinton, Iowa. A visitation will occur from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 2nd, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive - west side of Clinton Lawn Cemetery). Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Stewart was born November 8th, 1983 in Dubuque, Iowa the son of David and Bonnie (Stewart) Barr. He was a 2002 graduate of Clinton High School. He then furthered his studies by graduating from Iowa State University. At Iowa State he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity.
Stewart was the owner and president of "The Home Inspectors, Plus" a home inspection, and radiation testing and mitigation company.
Stewart was always known for his smile and sense of humor. He was an avid fan of ALL Iowa State Cyclone sports teams. He enjoyed skiing, playing softball, and being with his friends. He excelled at Power Lifting and he was a member of Team Weber Power Lifting, and currently holds several Iowa weight lifting records in the Drug Free Class including: straight bar dead lift - #590, trap bar dead lift - #775, bench - #408 and squat - #573. Stewart was also a member of the Muddy River Rugby team and recently took an interest in hunting and was teaching himself to play a chanter and eventually bagpipes.
Stewart is survived by his parents David and Bonnie Barr of Clinton, IA.; one brother - Brian of Centralia, IA.; his paternal grandmother - Grace Barr of Clinton, IA.; several aunts, uncles and cousins and his beloved dog - Copper. He will be greatly missed by his special neighbors - Gary and Glory Reynolds as well as the countless friends he's known throughout the country.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Howard Barr, his maternal grandparents, Lawrence J. and Una D. Stewart, a maternal aunt, Marcia Chesbrough and several close friends.
Stewart challenged his friends to donate Christmas gifts to underprivileged children. In lieu of flowers the family asks that family and friends accept this challenge and donate to an organization for this cause.
