Shirley May Johnson, 78, of Clinton, Iowa passed away peacefully at MercyOne Medical Center on Monday, April 24, 2023. Funeral services take place at 12 pm on Saturday, April 29, at Lemke Funeral Homes – South Chapel. A visitation will occur 1 hour prior, from 11 am until the service hour at the Funeral Home. Burial follows at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
Shirley was born August 4,1944 in Vandalia, Missouri, the daughter of Archie Dean and Grace Hazel (Wray) Johnston.
She was united in marriage to Wayne Proud, he would later pass away. She then married Robert Johnson in 2005.
Shirley enjoyed spending time outdoors whether it was camping, biking or simply tending to her plants and flowers in the back yard. She loved to host cookouts for family and friends at her home. Shirley had a special talent decorating her home for every season and holiday, she spent endless hours picking out just the right pieces. Shirley was an extremely hard worker her entire life - always excelled and found herself in a leadership role wherever she went. Spending time with her beloved Chihuahua Maggie was a favorite past time.
Those left to honor her memory are daughters Debra Ammeter of Clinton, IA, and Pamela (Mike) Sampson of Davenport, IA; brother - Robert (Kathy) Johnston of Curryville, MO; daughter-in-law - Barb Edfors with 12 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and special furry friend - Maggie.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Wayne; son Allen, daughter Michelle and brother Everett.
