Obituary for Shirley Burmeister (Kubik)

Shirley Mae Burmeister, 84, of Clinton, Iowa passed away peacefully at the Pearl Valley Rehabilitation Center on Friday, January 22, 2021. Private family funeral services take place at 1 pm on Tuesday, January 26, at Lemke Funeral Homes – South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Dr.). A private family visitation occurs one hour prior from 12 pm until the service hour at the Funeral Home. The funeral service will be live streamed on the “Lemke Funeral Home” Facebook page. Burial takes place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.

Shirley was born December 23, 1936 in Clinton, Iowa the daughter of Edward and Carrie (Poole) Kubik. She graduated from Charlotte High School. Shirley was united in marriage to Raymond Burmeister on February 14, 1962 in DeWitt, Iowa – Raymond passed away on September 21, 2003.

Shirley was a housewife and loving mother. She also owned and operated Baldwin Meat Locker, Baldwin, Iowa, with her husband for 22+ years.

Shirley enjoyed crocheting, working word puzzles and playing Canasta with her mother. She also loved watching a good WWE match on the TV. Shirley loved her fur baby - her cat Charlie. Shirley was a quiet woman who loved her family dearly and will be incredibly missed.

Shirley is survived by two sons Dean (Ronelle) Burmeister of Clinton and Larry Burmeister of Charlotte; two grandchildren - Carrie Jackson of Clinton and Kyle Jackson of Clinton; one great-grandchild – Cordelia; in-laws - Kenny (Wilma) Burmeister, Don (Judy) Burmeister, Gary (Marilyn) Burmeister, Ed (Ann) Burmeister, Richard Carber and Belva Burmeister, as well as, many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one daughter – Wanda.
