Obituary for Shirley B. Brown

Shirley B. Brown, 68, of Clinton, Iowa passed away peacefully at Mercy Living Center – South on Saturday, November 4, 2017. Honoring her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 11, at 12:00 p.m. at Lemke Funeral Homes – South Chapel. A visitation will occur one hours prior to the memorial service from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
Shirley was born October 7, 1949 in Sherard, Mississippi the daughter of Joseph Sterling Brown and Hattie Mae (Black) Brown. She was a graduate of Sherard High School.
Shirley was a homemaker; her main focus was always on her family.
Shirley loved sewing and was a fabulous cook. She loved all animals especially her cat (fluffy) and the many dogs she had throughout her life. Shirley's door was always open to anyone that needed a meal, a place to stay or a friend to talk to. Above all, she loved her family very much, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by two daughters – Gwen Brown of Clinton, IA and Sharonda Brown of Atlanta, GA; three brothers – Sterling Joe Brown of CA, Lee Andrew Brown and Mac Author Brown both of Clarksdale MS; several grandchildren and several great grandchildren; special niece Beverly Williams of Clinton, IA with other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents and her son – Danny; sisters – Virginia Herning, Armelia Harlston, Lillie Hoard and Alice Brown and one brother – Lieutenant Mack Brown.
