Obituary for Ruth Howlett

Ruth Agnes Howlett, 93, of Davenport, Iowa (formerly of Clinton, Iowa) passed away peacefully at the Kahl Home in Davenport, Iowa on September 13, 2013. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 17, at 12:00 p.m. at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (2610 manufacturing drive - west side of Clinton Lawn Cemetery). A visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Ruth was born January 8, 1920 in Clinton, Iowa the daughter of Clarence and Agnes (Perryman) Brown. She was a graduate of Springfield high school, Springfield, Illinois. She was united in marriage to Oran F. Howlett on October 7, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois.
She was a longtime member of the Methodist Church.
Ruth was a homemaker and loved her family dearly. She looked forward to the Holidays which gave her extra time to visit with the entire family. She also loved going for rides and was an avid reader. Ruth was also an exceptional dancer and enjoyed dancing on the weekends with her husband.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at the Kahl Home in Davenport, Iowa for the love, kindness and exceptional care they provided to Ruth.
Ruth is survived by one step son - Cal (Sue Langdon) Howlett of Fremont, WI.; one sister - Roberta (Jim) Mundschau of Waukesha, WI.; one sister in-law - Leola Kratz of Chenoa, IL.; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband - Oran; two daughters - Ruth Ann and Carolyn; two sons - Gene and Oran Jr.; two brothers and two sisters.
