Obituary for Ruby Goettsch - Martin

Ruby Goettsch-Martin, 85, of Clinton, Iowa passed away peacefully at her home on July 20th, 2013. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 27th, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (just west of Clinton Lawn Cemetery). A visitation will occur from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 26th, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Ruby was born August 23rd, 1927 in Clinton, Iowa the daughter of William and Olive (Sprauge) Sparlin. She was a graduate of Clinton High School and received her Associates Degree from Clinton Community College. On April 7th, 1995 she was united in marriage to Robert Martin - he passed away in 2008.
Ruby was a departmental head Dietician for Schick Army Hospital (and the Hospital's progression to other services for the military and community) for 30 years. After leaving Schick, she was a book keeper for a private ambulance service in Clinton and for many years was professional bartender at the family's bar- "The Silver Rail and Subway Inn".
Ruby loved to fish and enjoyed playing cards. She was a loyal and avid fan of the game show "Jeopardy", very seldom missing an episode. She also enjoyed watching NASCAR and loved to cook for family events. Above all she loved her children and grandchildren and great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Ruby is survived by four daughters - Deanna (Stephen) Larkin of Clinton, IA., Kathy (Danny Shivers) Goettsch-Liggins of Clinton, IA., Laura Goettsch of Clinton, IA., Julie (Kemper) Fryer-Reeves of East Chicago, IN.; one son - Carl (Sandy) Sparlin of Wheatland, IA.; one step-son - Brandon (Cindy) Martin of Alexis, IL., with many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, her siblings and one son.
