Obituary for Ronald Greul
Ronald H. Greul, 81, of Lyndon, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2022. A visitation occurs from 4 pm to 7 pm on Tuesday, January 3 at Lemke Funeral Homes — South Chapel. Cremation rites will be accorded after the visitation. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
Ron was born April 11, 1941 to Harold (Doobie) and Mary Elaine (Kennedy) Greul, in Clinton, Iowa. He attended St. Mary’s and Clinton High School.
Ron married Donna Stearns on June 26, 1971.
Ron worked as a self-contractor before moving on to Union Pacific until 1995. He then worked for ADM until his retirement in 2012.
Ron had belonged to Clinton Optimist Club, Clinton Jaycees, various pool and bowling leagues, Clinton Area Rod Club, and Chevrolet Nomad Association.
Ron was a big fan of the Chicago Bears and the Iowa Hawkeyes Basketball. Most of all he loved watching his grandchildren playing sports at Morrison High School. Ron cherished his 57’ Nomad he bought in 1968 and proudly took part in many car shows. Ron loved his chocolate and dining at Forest Inn. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, whom he loved very much. Ron will be incredibly missed.
Ron is survived by his wife — Donna of 51 years; children — William (Wendy), Jolene, and Joseph all of Morrison; eight grandchildren — Zach, Kaylah, BillLee, Ashley, Aaron, Colton, Wyatt and Jocelynn; three great-grandchildren; sister — Barbara Estes of Fremont, Iowa; three sisters-in-law — Pat(Al) Robinson, Jean Wainwright and Sherry (Mike) Davis all of Clinton; with several extended family members; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials may be directed to the wishes of the family.
