Obituary for Rodney Brandon "Rod" Proud I

Rodney “Rod” Brandon Proud I, of Savanna, Illinois, formerly Clinton, passed away at Big Meadows Nursing Home on Friday, July 3, 2020. Honoring his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded with a funeral service taking place at 4 pm Thursday, July 9, at Lemke Funeral Homes – South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive). A visitation occurs one-hour prior from 3 pm until the service hour at the funeral home. Burial takes place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.

Rod was born April 8, 1933 in Clinton, Iowa the son of Everett and Augusta (Bark) Proud.

He joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Africa during the Korean War as an aircraft maintenance technician.

He was Baptized in the First Baptist faith and for a period of time served as an Ordained Minister.
Rod worked for Collis, Inc. for 30 years as a machine operator.

Rod loved to bowl and played on several leagues. He enjoyed going for long walks and playing cards. He was a talented guitar player and enjoyed singing. He loved his fur-baby - his cat Sadie. Above all he loved his family very much and will be greatly missed.

Rod is survived by his daughters - Penny Wagoner of Clinton and Patty (Mike) McCrary of LA; one son – Rodney Proud II of Clinton; two brothers – Anthony “Tony” Proud of Philippians and Frank (Mary) Proud of Clinton; ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Eugene “Boney” Proud, and two sisters – Shirley Proud and Babe Whitmer.
