Obituary for Robert Latimer

Robert Monroe Latimer, 86, of Clinton, Iowa passed away peacefully at the Alverno on Saturday, September 16, 2017. Honoring his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A graveside service will take place at 11:00 a.m. at Clinton Lawn Cemetery on Monday, September 25, 2017. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
Robert was born August 28, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Odie and Mazie (Sears) Latimer.
Robert was a cook for many years and many different facilities and restaurants.
He loved all animals, especially dogs. He enjoyed the outdoors and was content just sitting outside. However, his passion was cooking, he loved cooking for many people and would many times simply volunteer to help cook for luncheons or other events, never charging for his time or the food. He was a keen practical joker – always trying to make people laugh. He was quiet and gentle man who often kept to himself but was always willing to help someone out.
Robert is survived by three sisters – Lois Near of Fulton, IL, Berniece Neilson of Clinton, IA and Barbara Tholen of Clinton, IA; one brother – John (Charlene) Latimer of Pomaria, SC; with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceding Robert in death were his parents, three sisters and one brother.
Memorials made can be directed to the family.
