Robert C. James, 60, of Clinton, Iowa formerly of Richmond, Virginia passed after a brief illness while visiting his family in Richmond on December 25, 2013.
Robert was born April 18, 1953 to Maud and Leatha James of Clinton. He was a 1971 graduate of Clinton High school and went on to graduate from the University of Dubuque after receiving a football scholarship. He was employed by Dupont and retired after 29 years. He loved his family and enjoyed fishing and golfing.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 2, from 5 pm to 8 pm at Lemke Funeral Homes South Chapel with a funeral service on Friday, January 3, at 11:00 am at Lemke Funeral Home South Chapel.
Robert is survived by his mother, Leatha M. James of Clinton, his companion, Loretta Triplett of Richmond, 2 sons, Marcus and Robert of Richmond, and 10 grandchildren. 4 brothers, Manuel, David (Melinda), Jimmy Hardwick and Benny Hardwick, 5 sisters Maudi (Leon) Walton , Deloris James (Ronnie), Zelda (Eric) Collins, Kathy (Joseph) Jackson, Helen James and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, and 2 sisters Charlotte and Jessie.
