Robert Francis Biermann, 88, of Clinton, Iowa passed away peacefully at Mercy Medical Center - North Campus on Wednesday, February 6th, 2013. A funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 9th, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (west side of Clinton Lawn Cemetery). A visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the funeral service from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn cemetery immediately following the funeral service. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Robert was born April 4th, 1924 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Walter and Alfrieda (Martensen) Biermann. He was a 1942 graduate of Clinton High School. He married Gladys on March 2nd, 1946 in Clinton, Iowa; they celebrated 66 years of marriage last year.
Robert worked for E.I. DuPont, Clinton Plant, for 38 years.
He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Camanche for many years. He was also a member of the Clinton Moose Lodge.
Robert loved woodworking and at Christmas time would make wooden reindeer puzzles for families. He also had a great passion for putting puzzles together and then hanging his finished creations up on the wall. He also enjoyed golfing with his wife Gladys. He loved his family and will be greatly missed.
Robert is survived by his wife Gladys; two daughters - Judith (Daniel) Manes of Circleville, OH., Donna Kay (Larry) Hamilton of Clinton, IA; Four grandchildren - Kristine Jacobs of Santa Maria, CA., Ron Hagen of Clinton, IA., Daniel Manes of Circleville, OH., Chana Biermann of Clinton, IA.; seven great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren; two sisters - Evelyn (Floyd)Haas of Morrison, IL., Lucille Dietz of Fulton, IL.; one brother - Gene (Gloria)Biermann of Clinton, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
