Rita Jean (Bartels) Weispfenning, 61, of Clinton, Iowa passed away peacefully on May 7, 2014 at the Alverno. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13, at Jesus Christ Prince of Peace Catholic Church (1105 LaMetta Wynn Drive, Clinton, Iowa – just off Mill Creek Parkway). A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 12, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive - west side of Clinton Lawn Cemetery). Cremation rites will be honored following the funeral service with private burial at a later date.
Rita was born September 2, 1952 in Maquoketa, Iowa the daughter of Walter F. and Lillian C. (Hyde) Bartels. She was a 1970 graduate of Clinton High School.
Rita owned and operated "Walts" for many years and also cooked at the Canticle, worked at the AMVETS and The Penthouse.
Rita enjoyed cooking and loved watching her granddaughters playing sports. Above all she loved her family dearly and will be sadly missed.
Rita is survived by her mother - Lillian Bartels of Clinton, IA.; her son - Joseph (Heather) Dehner of Morrison, IL.; two granddaughters - Hailee and Lillian; two sisters - Rose Mary (Larry) Edmunds of Clinton, IA., Debbie Kokemueller of Clinton, IA.; one brother - Bill (Val) Bartels of Clinton, IA.; with several nieces, nephews and many friends she made through the years.
Preceding Rita in death were her father Walt and her sister Sue.
Memorials made will be directed to the wishes of the family.
