Richard "Dick" Rothert, 75, of Clinton, Iowa passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center - North. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, February 23, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive). A visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. A private burial will follow at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Dick was born September 5, 1939 to Marvin and Mary (Walton) Rothert. His stepfather, James Bennis, played a major role in his upbringing and the rest of his life. Dick was a 1958 graduate of St. Mary's High School and would later receive an AA degree from Clinton Community College.
Dick was employed with Central Steel and the Railroad in Clinton. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who he loved dearly. Dick was a compassionate person who took care of his mother for many years. He enjoyed politics and loved sitting at the roundtable debating important political points or current policies with family and friends.
Dick is survived by his mother - Mary Bennis of Clinton, IA.; one son - James (Stefanie) Rothert of Arvada, CO.; three granddaughters - Hailey, Viola and Taylor all of Arvada, CO.; and cousins.
Preceding Dick in death were his father, his stepfather and one brother.
