Obituary for Richard James Hansen
Richard J. Hansen, 86, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at home on Monday, January 9. 2023. Honoring his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded with a memorial service taking place at 1 pm on Saturday, January 14, at the Calvary Baptist Church, Clinton. A visitation occurs 1 hour prior, from 12 pm until the service hour at the church. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
Richard was born March 13, 1936 in Clinton, Iowa the son of Martin and Mildred (Adams) Hansen. He was a 1954 graduate of Clinton High School. He would further his education by acquiring 2, 2-year degrees, one in Electronics and the other in Diesel Mechanics.
Richard served his Country in the United States Marine Corp. during the Korean war.
He was united in marriage to Linda Claborn on July 25, 1975 in Clinton; she recently passed away in February 2022. He was a long-time member of the Calvary Baptist Church.
Richard worked the Welding department at John Deere, retiring after 40+ years. Following retirement, he enjoyed his second career as the Caretaker for Pine Grove Cemetery for another 20+ years.
Richard is survived by his daughter - Loretta (Gary A.) Schmidt of Clinton, IA; one son - Albert D. Hansen Jr. of Clinton, IA; six grandchildren: April (Dustin) Ketelsen, Abigail Davis, Elizabeth (Jacob) Whitaker, Edward Davis, Jr., Roxanne Schmidt, Kathleen Schmidt and 9 great-grandchildren; with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife and one son -Timothy.
