Richard August Dawson, 74, of Clinton, Iowa passed away peacefully at Mercy Living Center – South on Sunday, October 29, 2017. A private burial service will take place on Thursday, November 2, at Clinton Lawn Cemetery.
Richard was born April 16, 1943 in Elvira, Iowa the son of Robert and Helen (Larson) Dawson. He was a graduate of Elvira High School. Richard served his Country in the United States Air Force, stationed in Guam in the early 1960's.
Richard worked his entire career as a fire sprinkler fitter for 30+ years. He enjoyed drag racing, especially at Cordova and won several trophy's during the Cordova World Series of Drag Racing. Although he was a quiet man, he loved his family very much and will be sadly missed.
Richard is survived by one daughter – Sara (Daniel) Correa of Avon, IN; two sons – Richard Dawson II of Avon, IN and Jon Dawson of Plainfield, IN; two grandchildren; two cousins and many friends.
Preceding Richard in death were his parents and one brother.
