Obituary for Reinhard Lemke

Reinhard C. Lemke, 88, of Clinton, Iowa passed away peacefully at the Alverno on Sunday, April 28, 2019. A Funeral Mass will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 3, at Jesus Christ Prince of Peace Catholic Church. A visitation will occur 1-1/2 hours prior from 9am until the Funeral Mass. Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.

Reinhard was born August 21, 1930 in Lincoln, Nebraska the son of Bernhard and Margaret (Overton) Lemke. He was a 1948 graduate of Lincoln High School. Following high school, he enlisted, serving his country in the United States Navy.

Reinhard was united in marriage to Janet Lynch on July 19, 1958 at St. Mary’s Church.

He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish and was also a member of the AMVETS. He worked as a Machinist at Clinton Corn and concluded his career at the Rock Island Arsenal.

Reinhard enjoyed reading and loved to golf. Above all, he loved his family very much and will be greatly missed.

Reinhard is survived by his children – Renee (Eric) Rickerl of Colorado Springs, CO, Lisa (Jeff) Van Nocker of Gainesville, FL, Gregory (Yvonne) Lemke of Scottsdale, AZ, Laura Lemke of Gainesville, FL and Eric Lemke of O’Fallon, MO; with 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; sisters – Bea Dehner, Phyllis Warren and Ruth Drews all of Clinton; brothers – John (Ruth) Lemke, Karl (Jean) Lemke both of Clinton, Roger (Judy) Lemke of Cedar Rapids and Phil (Karlynn) Lemke of Albany; with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Preceding Reinhard in death were his parents, his wife – Janet and sister – Mary.
