Obituary for Reginald "Kent" Alcorn

Reginald “Kent” Alcorn, 77, of Clinton, Iowa went to be with his family and Our Lord in Heaven on Saturday, September 20, 2020 at University of Iowa Hospital. Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded with private burial at a later date. There will be no visitation or public services. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.

Kent was born on December 19, 1942 in Clinton, Iowa to Reginald G. “Dick” Alcorn and Hazel M. (Bausch) Alcorn. He graduated in 1961 from Clinton High School.

He married Bonnie Lawrence on April 8, 1967. Together they raised their son Kurt Matthew Alcorn.

A lifelong resident of Clinton, Iowa, he along with his father Dick Alcorn owned and operated Dick’s Auto Sales, a successful used car dealership, for over 46 years. He was also a member of the Auto Dealers of Iowa.

Kent was a member of the National Guard and he and several other guardsmen manned the famous Fort Johannsen to keep the flood waters away from the city during the big flood of 1967.

He was an avid boater on the great Mississippi River and loved any auto racing event.

Kent is survived by his only son - Kurt Matthew Alcorn of Camanche and his first wife- Bonnie Foley.

Preceding Kent in death were his parents - Mr. and Mrs. Reginald “Dick” Alcorn, his brother- Gordon Keith Alcorn, wife- Florence, and his only nephew- Ross L. Alcorn all of Los Gatos, California.

Kent will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
