Obituary for Raymond Wilson

Raymond Wilson, 80, of Clinton, Iowa passed away peacefully at Manor Care Health Services on Sunday, December 10, 2017. A funeral service will be held at 6:00 pm, Monday, December 18, at Lemke Funeral Homes – South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive). A visitation will occur at 4:00 pm, the day of the funeral service, at the Funeral Home. Burial will take place at the National Cemetery in Rock Island, with full military honors provided by the Vietnam Veterans of America – Chapter 299, at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 19, 2017.
Raymond was born December 26, 1936 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Dorothy (Davis) Wilson-Russell and step-father Richard Russell. Following High School, Raymond served his Country in the U.S. Army a Veteran of the Vietnam War. Raymond was wounded in Vietnam battle during major combat. Over the course of his 20-year career in the U.S. Army, Raymond received the following medals of honor: National Defense Medal; Good Conduct Medal Clasp, Bronze, 3 Loops; Vietnam Service Medal w/1 Silver and 2 Bronze Service Stars; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; Army Commendation Medal; Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry w/Palm and the Purple Heart.
Upon retirement from the Army, Raymond was a US Railroad employee through to his retirement.
Raymond is survived by his daughter – Vanessa Wilson; granddaughter – Natalia Montalvo; great-grandson - Saviour Jerry all of MA; nephew - Anthony Wilson and niece - Christina Wilson, as well as, other extended family members and many friends.
Preceding Raymond in death were his parents; his wife Anna Wilson, his son Raymond Wilson Jr. and his brother Roy.
