Obituary for Raymond "Ray" Spreen

Raymond "Ray" L. Spreen, 83, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at Mercy Medical Center - North on Saturday, July 23, 2016. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 29, at the First Baptist Church in Clinton. A visitation will occur from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 28, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive). Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Ray was born June 23, 1933 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of William and Wilma (Broyles) Spreen. Ray was united in marriage to Marie Reed on July 27, 1960 in Clinton.
Ray was a member of the First Baptist Church since 1998 and was a church trustee for many years. Ray worked at Central Steel in Clinton and Clinton Foods. Upon retirement from Clinton Foods, he continued to work as a crossing guard for the Clinton School District for many years.
Ray enjoyed playing cards and fishing. He loved socializing with everyone and just loved people in general. He loved going to Church and loved his Church family dearly. Above all, he loved his family very much and will be sadly missed.
Ray is survived by his son - Carl Spreen of Clinton, IA; one sister - Dorothy Ingram of Spokane, WA; one brother - Elliot Spreen of Spokane, WA; with several nieces, nephews, his church family and friends he met throughout his life.
Preceding Ray in death were his parents, his loving wife Marie, one son - Ricky, two sisters and two brothers.
Memorials made can be directed to the First Baptist Church in Ray's name.
