Obituary for Raymond Ruppenkamp Rev.

Rev. Raymond J. Ruppenkamp, 88, of Clinton, Iowa passed away on Monday, February 23, 2015, at The Alverno. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 28, at Jesus Christ Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Clinton. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the Funeral Mass from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Church. Burial will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Raymond was born one of nine children on May 12, 1926 in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Wilbur and Catherine (Burns) Ruppenkamp. He was raised in West Branch, Iowa attending school at St. Patrick's in Iowa City and graduating from high school in West Branch.
He received a B.A. degree from St. Ambrose College in Davenport, IA. Then he attended Loras College in Dubuque, IA. before entering Kenrick Seminary in St. Louis, MO. He was ordained a priest on May 6, 1950.
His priestly assignments included the following locations: St. Joseph's in Fort Madison, St. Joseph's in East Pleasant Plain, St. James in Washington, St. Mary's in Clinton, the Church of the Visitation in Camanche, St. Patrick's in Big Rock, St. James in Toronto and St. Boniface in Clinton. He was chaplain at Mount St. Clare Convent and The Alverno for 21 years. He retired in 1996.
Fr. Ruppenkamp had a caring heart, loving spirit and ready smile for all he met. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Fr. Ruppenkamp is survived by two sisters – Mary (Bill) Long of Moline, IL .and Rita Greaber of Atlanta, GA.; one brother-in-law- Sheldon Moe of Naperville, IL.; with many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Fr. Ruppenkamp in death were his parents and 6 sisters.
