Obituary for Raymond "Ray" Kimmer

Raymond "Ray" Kimmer, 53, of Davenport , Iowa (formerly of Clinton) past away at ManorCare Health Services on Tuesday, July 12, 2016. Honoring his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded . A Memorial service will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 16, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive). A visitation will occur from 11:30 a.m. until time of service on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be private. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Ray was born July 26, 1962 in Clinton, Iowa the son of Wesley and Arlene (Flynn) Kimmer. Following High School, Ray would serve his Country enlisting in the U.S. Army. While in the Army, serving from 1982 to 1985, he was a heavy truck mechanic. After being honorably discharged, he would also join the Army reserves, serving until 1988.
Following his return from the service Ray worked as a Jeweler, working alongside of his father, at the family owned Clinton store - "RiverCity Coins and Jewelry".
Ray loved being outdoors, whether it was rock climbing or repelling with friends at Mississippi Palisades State Park when he was younger or fishing, camping or just hiking - he simply loved being outdoors. He loved all animals and would volunteer his time working at the Davenport Humane Society. Ray loved telling jokes and was quick witted. He was a happy person who had a beautiful smile that would light up a room. He was a very kind, loving, generous and was always willing to help someone out. He loved his family very much and will be greatly missed.
Ray is survived by his parents Wesley and Arlene Kimmer of Clinton, IA; two sisters Beth (Terry) Burmeister of Clinton, IA, Deborah (Mark) Hansen of Clinton, IA; two brothers - Robert Kimmer of Clinton, IA and Randy (Hope) Kimmer of Clinton, IA; with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends he's met throughout his life.

Preceding Ray in death were his grandparents.
