Obituary for Raymond "Rick" Goynes, Jr.

Raymond “Rick” Richard Goynes Jr., 64, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at the University of Iowa Hospitals on Wednesday, August 7, 2019. Funeral services will take place at 12 pm on Saturday, August 17, at Lemke Funeral Homes – South Chapel. A visitation will occur 2 hours prior from 10 am until the service hour at the funeral home. Burial takes place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.

Rick was born November 29, 1954 in Orange, Texas the son of Raymond and Carolyn (Henry) Goynes. He was a 1973 graduate of Camanche High School. Rick was united in marriage to Marya Hines on April 7, 1984 at the Church of the Visitation in Camanche.

Rick worked many years for Adrian’s Auto in Camanche, as a car salesman. While there, he unlocked many new friendships with his lockout kit.

He was an active member of the River Church in Clinton. He was also the Commander in charge of the Sons of AMVETS. He was passionate about his involvement with the AMVETS, leading several charities events there.

He loved to barter and wheel & deal. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing and searching for Morel’s. He loved shooting pool and was an avid gun enthusiast. He was always there for anyone in need, frequently buying strangers groceries. He loved to cook, his specialty – Chicken Gumbo, among others. Above all he loved his entire family very much and will be sadly missed.

Rick is survived by His wife Marya of Clinton; his children – Megan Kershner and Ray Goynes both of Clinton; 2 grandchildren – Isaac and Allys - with one on the way; his siblings – Sandra Clark of Clinton, IA, Paul (Paula) Goynes of Grapevine, TX, Phil (Jan) Goynes of Pearland, TX, Timothy Goynes of San Francisco, CA; many in-laws, with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Preceding Rick in death were his parents and sister Christina “Tina” Mussman.
