Obituary for Rachel Raulins

Rachel Carroll Raulins, 92, of Clinton, Iowa passed away peacefully at Mercy Medical Center - North on September 6, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (2610 manufacturing drive - just west of Clinton Lawn Cemetery). A visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Rachel was born May, 20, 1922 in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee the daughter of William and Louise (Stuart) Carroll Sr. Rachel graduated from Mount Pleasant High School. Later she would go on to graduate from Columbia Business School, Columbia, Tennessee. Additionally she passed the testing requirement and attained her Notary Public Certification for Shelby County Tennessee; of which she was very proud of these achievements accomplished in an era that made it unique for a woman. Rachel was united in marriage to Joseph Raulins on March 29, 1952 in Memphis, Tennessee.
Rachel was a recent member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Clinton. Rachel had various jobs throughout her life but was most fond of taking care of her family has a homemaker.
Rachel had a God given gift for music. Early in life she and her brother played in a band that was featured on music segments on local radio. Later in life she still utilized her talent for playing piano and the organ playing for various events in Clinton including entertaining the folks at various nursing homes in the area. Her spare time was spent tending and enjoying her flower garden. She loved her family very much and will be sadly missed.
Rachel is survived by her husband Joseph of Clinton, IA.; one daughter - Robin (Jim) Boyd of Port Byron, Il., two grandchildren - Jacob (Carissa) Boyd of Rock Island, Il., Jena (Eric) Dhooge of Bloomington, Il.; one great granddaughter - Kensley, at home; one brother - WM Carroll Jr. of Columbia, TN., with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Preceding Rachel in death were her parents, two sons - Doug Dodson and Marc Raulins, one grandson Jonathan Raulins, and one brother Leroy Carroll.
Memorials made will be directed to the wishes of the family.
