Patrick (Pat) “Jake” G. Goddard, 58, of Camanche, Iowa passed away at home on Monday, November 19, 2018. A gathering of friends and family, celebrating Pat’s life, will occur from 12 pm to 2pm on Saturday, December 1, at Lemke Funeral Homes – South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Drive). A time to share memories will occur at 2 pm in the funeral home chapel. Burial will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery at a later date. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.

Pat was born March 31, 1960 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Marvin “Marv” and Jean (Leahy) Goddard. He was a 1978 graduate of St. Mary’s High School. Pat was united in marriage to Patti Collins in Clinton, Iowa in 1988 – Patti preceded him in death on November 4, 1999.

Pat started his career in the newspaper business, starting out as a paperboy at age 11, then moving into the mailroom, then circulation and eventually becoming a skilled Press Operator. He retired as a Press Operator after 30+ years.

In his younger days, he enjoyed the outdoors both fishing, hunting and occasionally golfing. Pat loved to socialize, whether it was having a beer and listening to music with friends at the local pubs or having friends over to grill. He was an avid Pittsburg Steelers, White Sox and Black Hawks fan. He loved games of chance, whether it was selecting his football or baseball picks, playing cards or getting in on a drawing, and was gifted with Irish luck. Pat was quick witted, had a great sense of humor and was always ready with a 1 or 2 line come-back. After the passing of his wife, Patti, his sole and life’s focus was his daughter who he raised and loved immensely. He will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends.

Pat is survived by his daughter – Crystal (Andrew) Ward and grandson Maverick of Sabula, IA; fiancé Melissa Thomsen of Camanche, IA; sister – Katie Goddard of Center Point, IA; brother – Mike (Tina) Goddard of Clinton, IA; 2 nieces – Michelle and Mariah Goddard both of Fulton, IL; 2 nephews – Konnor and Logan Lemke of Clinton, IA; with several cousins and many friends.

Preceding Pat in death were his parents, his wife – Patti and infant sister – Maria.
