Oscar was born July 25th, 1935 in Nashville, Tennessee the son of Henry and Bessie Mae (Peahl) Clark. He was a 1954 graduate of Clinton High School. Following high school, Oscar joined the Iowa National Guard, Clinton unit, serving for over four years. Oscar was united in marriage to Delores Leslie on October 25th, 1956 in Clinton Iowa.
Oscar retired from the Clinton DuPont Company after 35+ years. He was also a former Clinton Eagles Club member.
Oscar loved eating at Hardees's - every day! He was an avid Atlanta Braves, Boston Celtics, Chicago Bears and Iowa Hawkeye's fan. To say Oscar Clark supported Fulton High School is an understatement. He spent many years volunteering his time at the school and loved all of the kids. His, what seemed to be endless, time spent at Fulton High School was recognized on May 4th, 2013 at the IADA Annual Conference in which Oscar was awarded the IADA Class 1A & 2A Friends of Athletics Award - in appreciation of his dedication given to athletics. If you ever needed Oscar - you could find him in the laundry room at the school meticulously cleaning and folding the kids sports uniforms. His personal touch, that will no doubt be greatly missed, was placing a peppermint candy ball on each folded uniform for the kids. Above all he loved his family very much which included his large extended family at Fulton High School. He will be greatly missed by the many lives he touched.
Oscar is survived by his loving wife Delores of Clinton, IA.; three daughters- Cheryl (Brian) Tack of Clinton, IA., Madonna (Bill) Ashbaugh of Clinton, IA., Theresa Jones of Fulton, IL.; two sons - Timothy (Genny) Clark of Fulton, IL., John (Rose Archer) Clark of Clinton, IA.; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; many friends and his second family at Fulton High School.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
