Obituary for Omer Eganhouse

Omer Joseph Eganhouse, 88, of Clinton, Iowa passed away on Sunday, September 16th, 2012 at Washington County Hospital and Clinics, Washington Iowa. . Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 20, at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (West side of Clinton Lawn Cemetery). A visitation will be held before the funeral from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Omer was born April 13th, 1924, in LaMotte, Iowa, the son of Albert and Helena (Hager) Eganhouse. Omer served in the United States Army from 1946 to 1948.
Following his return from the Army Omer initially farmed, later he worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad - Clinton Car Shop, for over 26 years.
Omer was a member of Jesus Christ Prince of Peace Church and a member of T.C.U local 6429.
Omer followed a life of frugality - one man's trash is another man's treasure was his way of life; a theme he learned being raised in the depression era. He also loved to read and staying current with World events.
Omer is survived by three daughters - Leta (Doug) Conro of Clinton, IA., Mary Jo (Stuart) Jansen of Cascade, IA., Laura (Herb) Klatt of Dubuque, IA.; four grandchildren; one sister - Imogene (Harold) Styer of Dubuque, IA.; two brothers - Eldon Eganhouse of Maquoketa, IA., Roderick Eganhouse of Davenport, IA.; one sister in-law - Marcy (Mrs. Allen) Eganhouse and many neices and nephews .
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother - Allen Eganhouse, one sister - Mary Jane Lord, one brother in-law - Vincent Lord and one sister in-law Elizabeth Eganhouse.
