Obituary for Nancy Deanne Brokaw (Nuss)
Nancy Deanne Brokaw, 75, of Clinton, Iowa passed away at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House on Friday, November 19, 2021. Funeral services take place at 1 pm on Wednesday, November 24, at Lemke Funeral Homes – South Chapel. A visitation occurs two-hours prior from 11 am until the service hour at the funeral home. Burial takes place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
Nancy was born February 14, 1946 in Hastings, Nebraska, the daughter of Dwight and Ruth (Heinz) Nuss. She was a graduate of Sutton High School and furthered her education by acquiring a specialized certificate in Secretarial Administration at the Lincoln School of Commerce.
Nancy was united in marriage to Michael “Mike” Brokaw on September 16, 1967 in Saronville, Nebraska - together for 54 years.
Nancy worked as an Executive Secretary for the Animal Science Department at the University of Nebraska. Upon starting a family, she concluded her career there and became a loving mother.
She was a member of local AMVET’S Post 28, Women’s Auxiliary.
Nancy loved needle work, cross stitch and crocheting. She also enjoyed reading and loved cooking for her family and friends. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband. Above all, she loved her family very much, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will be incredibly missed.
Nancy is survived by her husband – Mike Brokaw of Clinton; two daughters- Vikki (Jesse) Holm of Clinton, Rebecca (Matt) Freckleton of Bettendorf, IA; one son – Paul Brokaw of Camanche, IA; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters – Patsy (Terry) Thiele of Columbus, NE and Amy (Mike) Tinius of Lincoln, NE; one brother – David (Lynne) Nuss of West Bend, NE; with several nieces, nephew, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
