Obituary

Miles Armstrong, Sr., 92, of Clinton, Iowa passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 17, 2021. Funeral services take place at 11 am on Saturday, January 23, at Lemke Funeral Homes – South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Dr.). A visitation occurs one hour prior from 10 am until the service hour at the Funeral Home. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.

Miles was born August 28, 1928 in Natchitoches, Louisiana, the son of LeRoy and Mary (Davis) Armstrong. He married Annie Mae Hamilton on July 10, 1966 in Natchitoches – they would later divorce.

Miles was a member of the Greater True Love Baptist Church in Clinton. He was also a member of the Spiritual Stars Gospel Quartet of Natchitoches, Louisiana. He worked for the City of Natchitoches and later at the Coca Cola Plant.

Miles enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and picking Pecan’s and during those times he enjoyed chewing tobacco. He loved shooting pool and playing cards and Domino’s. Recently he simply enjoyed looking out his window and watching the children play. He was blessed with a great sense of humor and enjoyed making family and friends laugh. Above all he loved his entire family very much and will be sadly missed.

Miles is survived by his nine children – Virginia Armstrong of Houston, TX; Alice Washington of Davenport, IA, Miles (Jackie) Armstrong Jr. of Clinton, Minister Vernon (Lynette) Armstrong of Eauclaire, WI., Robert Armstrong of Clinton, Rev. Eartha (Darrell) Davis of Clinton, Michael (Patricia) Armstrong of Clinton; CJ (Natasha) Hamilton of Silvis, IL and Willie Hamilton of Omaha, NE; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Rosa Bailey; son, Donald Ray Alex and two brothers – John and LeRoy Armstrong.

Memorials made can be directed to the family.
