Obituary for Michael James Wilson

Michael James Wilson of Bettendorf, Iowa passed away Tuesday morning, February 11, 2014 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. His wife and daughter were by his side. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 17, 2014 at Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel (2610 manufacturing drive Clinton, Iowa - just west of Clinton Lawn Cemetery). A visitation will take place two hours prior to the funeral service from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will take place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mike was born November 6, 1941 in Clinton, Iowa to Woodrow 'Woody' Wilson and Harriet (Hicks) Wilson. Both his parents would eventually divorce and remarry; Woody to Doris Wilson and Harriet to Bill Barber. He was very fortunate to have two great father and two great mother influences his whole life.
Mike graduated from Davenport High School in 1960, where he was an exceptional student and athlete. He then attended Augustana College in Rock Island, where he was a starting point guard for the basketball team, graduating in 1965. Mike was also very proud to have served his country as an Officer in the United States Marine Corps.
After graduating from College, Mike took a job with John Deere & Company where he retired from as an executive in 1995.
In 1965 Mike met Sandra Breitbach who he was married to for seventeen years. They had four children together. In 1995 Mike was united in marriage to Vicki (Fogel) Wilson.
Mike shared his love of sports and the outdoors with his children, as he was heavily involved in coaching their sports teams and teaching them how to golf, hunt and fish.
Mike is survived by his wife Vicki Wilson; his four children; Sheri Wilson, Scott (Tricia) Wilson, Sean (Lisa) Wilson, and Mike Wilson; his four grandchildren - Mason, Hunter, Sophia, and Max; his two step-grandchildren - Forrest and Tanner; his brother Tom (Robbie)Wilson; his half-brother Bobby (Kim) Wilson; his half-sister Lori (Thomas) Wolf; and his step-mother Doris Wilson.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents and his step-father William Barber.
