Obituary for Michael Gene Anderson

Michael Gene Anderson, 65, of Clinton Iowa passed away at home on Thursday, December 8, 2022. Funeral services occur at 11:30 am on Friday, December 16, at Lemke Funeral Homes – South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Dr.) A visitation takes place two hours prior from 9:30 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Please dress in casual attire. Pallbearers will be Joshua Anderson, Anthony “Tony” Anderson, Janet Curtis, Gary Wilson, Steve Anderson, Kevin Swan, Jr., and Ryan Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas Cannon and Thomas Murphy. Burial takes place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.

Michael was born December 16, 1956 in Clinton, Iowa the son of John and Lillian (Chase) Anderson. He was baptized in the Baptist faith.

Michael was united in marriage to Janet Schlosser in 1979. They would later divorce but remain friends.

Michael was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He worked for several years at Clinton Corn Processing and later worked many years until his retirement as a custodian for the Henry Sabin School.

Michael loved walking, as a long-distance walker, walking 10 miles or more was just a normal routine for him. From his residence on the North-end of Clinton, he would often walk to Thomson, Illinois or down to Camanche – leaving early in the morning and returning late at night. He also enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and was an avid Chicago Cubs, Bears and Iowa Hawkeye Fan. He enjoyed games of chance at the Casino. He enjoyed socializing with family and friends, especially his good friend – Scott Creeley.

Michael was a kind hearted man who would help anyone in need.

Michael is survived by three children - Joshua Anderson of Savanna, IL, Anthony "Tony" Anderson of Baileyville, IL and Makayla Anderson of Clinton; two brothers - John (Linda) Anderson of Tucson, AZ and Don Anderson of Clinton, IA; one grandson - Bently; one sister in-law - Linda Anderson of Tucson, AZ; with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and good friend Scott Creeley of Clinton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers - Marvin and Robert and one sister – Eleanor.
Memorials made can be directed to the wishes of the family.
