Obituary for Melissa Jaynette Thomsen

Melissa Jaynette Thomsen, 53 of Clinton, Iowa passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, February 27, 2021. Funeral services take place at 1 pm on Wednesday, March 3, at Lemke Funeral Homes – South Chapel (2610 Manufacturing Dr.). A visitation occurs two hours prior from 11 am until the service hour at the Funeral Home. The funeral service will be live streamed on the “Lemke Funeral Home” Facebook page. Burial takes place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.

Melissa was born July 27, 1967 in Clinton, Iowa the daughter of John and Marilyn (Crangle) Thomsen. She was a 1985 graduate of Camanche High School. She would then graduate from Clinton Community College with an Associates of Arts Degree and then a Certified Nursing Degree.

Melissa worked at Mercy Medical Center, in Clinton, as an LPN, focusing her career on long-term care. She also spent a portion of her career there working in the Psychiatric Care unit, where she found joy helping the mentally challenged.

Melissa was baptized into the Catholic faith.

Melissa loved to go shopping with friends, especially browsing through antique stores in the area. She also loved reading up on and watching videos regarding beauty products and advising friends on how to look their best. She enjoyed visiting Psychics and learning about relatives on the other side. Above all, she just loved being “Aunt Melissa” to her nieces, nephew and special friends. She is greatly missed by all those who knew her.

Melissa is survived by her sister - LeAnn (David) Schrader of Clinton; nephew and nieces – Johnathan Stolts, Natalie Schrader, Olivia Schrader and Emery Schrader; Logan and Konnor Lemke - with whom she thought as family; life-long and dear friend – Tina Lemke-Goddard; step-mother – Sharon Thomsen, Uncle Robert (Tonia) Truckenmiller and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, fiancé – Pat Goddard and Uncle Joe.
