Obituary for Melissa Ann Mitchell (Reiff)

Melissa Ann Mitchell, 57, of Charlotte, Iowa passed away at the Bettendorf Health Care Center on Saturday, July 30, 2022. Honoring her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Funeral services take place at 12 pm on Saturday, August 13, at the Church of the Open Door. A visitation occurs 2 hours prior from 10 am until the service hour at the church. Burial takes place at a later date. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.

Melissa was born November 14, 1964 in Maquoketa, Iowa the daughter of Larry and Ruth (Jostad) Reiff. She was a 1983 graduate of Preston High School.

Melissa was united in marriage to Reid Mitchell on November 16, 2001 in Clinton.

Melissa was a long-time member of the Church of the Open door where she was also a Sunday School teacher, as well as, volunteering for several other Church activities.

She worked at Casey’s General Stores for 15 years and for the last 3 years she was a store manager.

Melissa loved the outdoors especially hunting mushrooms and tending to her flower garden. She also enjoyed cooking, crafts and socializing with family and friends. She loved her job where she enjoyed interacting with fellow employees and customers. She dearly loved her two fur-baby’s – her Rottie’s. Above all, she loved her family very much, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She will be incredibly missed by her family and friends.

Melissa is survived by Reid of Charlotte; her two daughters - Aleigha at home and Kristal Mitchell of Glendale, Arizona and son - Triston (Lynn) Mitchell of Clinton; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; her siblings - Matt (Marcia) Reiff of Preston, Chris Reiff of Clinton and Cory (Lynn) Reiff of Davenport; two aunts - Kathy Blank of Rock Island, IL and Suzy (Jack) Onken of Martel, IA; with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents and nephew.
