Obituary for Melinda Lee Cave (Platter)

Melinda Lee Cave, 69, of Clinton, Iowa passed away peacefully at Eagle Point Nursing Home on Wednesday, November 17, 2021. A Memorial service occurs at 12 pm on Friday, November 26, at Lemke Funeral Homes – South Chapel. A visitation occurs one-hour prior from 11 am until the service hour at the funeral home. Burial takes place at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.

Melinda was born April 21, 1952 in Boone, Iowa the daughter of James and JoAnn (Anderson) Platter. She was a graduate of Clinton High School and then followed up with a Masters Degree, in Child Psychology, from NIU in Dekalb, Illinois.

Melinda was united in marriage to Grover Cave on July 12 1986 – Grover passed away March 5, 2015.

Melinda worked for the United States Postal Service, as well as, being a loving and caring Foster Care mother for 20+ years, ultimately adopting three children through the Illinois DCFS.

Melinda loved all animals, especially the dogs and cats she had throughout her life. She was an educated woman who loved to read. Above all, she loved her family very much and will be incredibly missed.

Melinda is survived by her six children – Heidi (Daron), Billie (Erich), Deanna (Jordan), Jackie (Khalil), Hannah (Michael), Waiiven (Ryleigh); twelve grandchildren and 2 great-greatgrandchildren; two brothers – Curt (Karen) Platter and James (Darlene) Platter; with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
